Reciting Manzil, Ayatul Kursi And 3 Quls Whilst In Haidh

Question

Can a woman in Haidh read Ayaatul Kursi, Manzil, 3 Quls?

Answer

It is permissible to read some verses of the Holy Qur’an as a Dua (supplication, not as Tilawat/recitation) during the menstruating period. This is restricted to just a few verses with the intention of Dua and it being the regular practice of the women during their normal days. For this reason, recital of Aayatul Kursi and the three Quls will be permissible, if they are read with the intention of Dua and protection. It should be borne in mind however, that her intention when reading the latter should be strictly with the intention of Dua and protection. If a woman cannot differentiate in her intentions (whether it is Tilawat or Dua), she should refrain from reciting any verses of the Qur’an.

Regarding the Manzil, due to its length (the entire booklet comprises of verses of the Qur’an), it would be regarded as recitation of the Qur’an; therefore, one should refrain from reciting it.
