Question
If in a place there are only non Muslim male gynecologists….And only one Muslim male gynecologist…Can I take my wife to the Muslim gynecologist?
Answer
With regards to taking your wife to a Muslim male gynecologist, our humble advice is that a Muslim woman should first look for a Muslim female doctor. If there is no Muslim female doctor available, or there is one available, however, she is not qualified to treat the sickness, then she may visit a non-Muslim female doctor. However, as far as possible, she should not reveal any parts of her body, unless absolutely necessary, in which case she will be allowed to reveal only those parts that need treatment and attention. If there are absolutely no female doctors or gynecologists available, then a male doctor should teach a female nurse how to treat the ailment, and thereafter the nurse should treat the Muslim woman.
Only as a last resort, when there are absolutely no female doctors available, nor can a male doctor teach a female nurse how to treat the sickness, and the woman’s life is at stake or she is experiencing extreme pain, then she is permitted to be examined by a Muslim male doctor. However, this visit will be subject to the following conditions:
1. She should only expose that part of the body where the ailment exists. The rest of her body should remain completely covered.
2. She should be accompanied by her Mahram, preferably her husband, who should also be present in the same area or room where the treatment is taking place.

إمرأة أصابتها قرحة فى موضع لا يحل للرجل أن ينظر إليه لا يحل أن ينظر إليها لكن تعلم إمرأة تداويها

و ينبغى أن يعلم إمرأة تداويها لأن نظر الجنس إلى الجنس أخف

و الطبيب أنها يجوز ذلك إذا لم يوجد إمرأة طبيبة فلو وجدت فلا يجوز له أن ينظر لأن نظر الجنس إلى الجنس أخف
