Question
When making Dua with Aayaat of Quran-e-Majeed or Hadeeth-Shareef can you change the Aayaat or Ahadeeth by making it into a plural scale? e.g the dua for parents in the quran … كما ربيانا
Where is it permissible and what is more virtuous to do?
Answer
If one is making Du’aa in a gathering, then he has both the options of either changing those Du’aas which come in Quraan-e-Majeed and Hadeeth-Shareef from the singular scale to plural scale, or to leave it as is.
However, it is better to leave the Du’aas that are narrated in the Quraan-e-Majeed and Hadeeth-Shareef in their original form meaning that if they are in the singular, they should be left as such.
If one is making Du’aa in a gathering, then the way to include the participants is to make an intention of supplicating for all, even though the words may be in the singular. In the Urdu footnote below, this is exactly what Hadhrat Mufti Muhammed Shafee Saheb Rahmatullahi Alaih is alluding to, that one should not doubt as to how one can include the gathering when the words are in the singular; because one can make the intention of including the gathering without changing the singular form.

(فيخص نفسه (٢) بالدعاء دونهم) أي لا يدخل المقتدين له في دعائه، (فإن فعل) أي خص نفسه بالدعاء ولم يشركهم (فقد خانهم) وأما إذا أمَّ قومًا وأدخلهم في دعائه في محل واحد فقد أدى حقهم.

اگر امام ہو تو تنہا اپنے لیے دعا نہ کرے بلکہ سب شرکائے جماعت کو دعا میں شریک کرے۔ابوداؤد میں ہے کہ جو امام اپنے نفس کو دعا میں خاص کرے اس نے قوم سے خیانت کی ، مراد یہ ہے کہ نماز کے اندر امام ایسی دعانہ مانگے جو صرف اس کی ذات کے ساتھ مخصوص ہو مثلا یہ کہے ” اللهم اشف ابني ” یعنی اے اللہ میرے بیٹے کو شفاء دے، یا ” ارجع الي ضالتي ” یعنی میری گم شدہ چیزوں کو واپس دے دے بلکہ ایسی دعا مانگے جو سب مقتدیوں کو شامل ہو سکے جیسے”اللهم اغفر لي”، وارحمني وغيره، هذا ما أفاده شيخنا حكيم الأمة حضرت مولانا أشرف علي دامت بركاتهم ولشراح الحديث فيه مقالات يأباها نشق الحديث. والله أعلم۔
اس میں صیغہ مفرد ہونے کی وجہ سے شبہ نہ کیا جائے کیونکہ صیغہ مفرد میں بھی جماعت کی نیت کی جاسکتی ہے ۔ ۱۲
