Question
A husband intent on issuing a divorce to his wife amicably, in a meeting prior to the divorce, agrees to and commits to providing a house for his ex-wife even after her iddat is over, as a moral obligation for the years they were together.
1.Is this type of promise/agreement binding on him?
2. Are promises before divorce or during her iddat binding on him as a moral obligation?
Answer
If the husband did make a promise that he will provide a house for his wife even after the Iddat of divorce is over, then yes, in this case it will be morally binding on him to fulfil his promise.
