Jumuah During Level 3 Restrictions

Question

Can the Jumuah Salaah be performed in venues other than a Masjid under the current Level 3 restrictions?

Answer

Considering the current regulations allowing congregations to be held, Jumu’ah Salaat should only be held at a Masjid or Musalla (Jamaat Khaanah) in which the five daily Salaat are performed with Jamaat.

Translation: Hadhrat Abdullah Radiallahu Anhu I said, “I saw us (during the time of Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) such that none would stay behind from Salaat (with Jamaat) except an open Munaafiq (hypocrite) or sick person. Verily a sick person would come to Salaat whilst taking support between two people. Verily Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam had taught us such practices which are guidance, and from amongst them is to perform Salaat in a Masjid wherein the Athaan is called out.”
(Sahīh Muslim)

Due to the restrictions placed on the number of people per congregation, it will be permissible to conduct multiple Jamaats in a Masjid if necessary, preferably performing all subsequent Jamaats in an area of the Masjid behind that of the first Jamaat.

Important

The ruling permitting multiple Jamaats will only be valid as long as the current regulations limiting the number of people per congregation remain in place.
