Masah Of The Ears

Question

When making masah of the ears, the index finger must clean inside the ears only or the whole front of the ear?

Answer

Masah should also be made of both the front and the back of both the ears.

وقال أبو يوسف ومحمد (رحمهما الله) صلاة الليل مثنى مثنى والأذنان من الرأس يمسح مقدمهما ومؤخرهما مع الرأس. الجامع الصغير (ص: 111)

قلت أرأيت الأذنين يغسل مقدمهما مع الوجه ويمسح مؤخرهما مع الرأس أو يمسحهما قال أي ذلك فعل فحسن وأحب إلى أن يمسحهما مع الرأس لأن الأذنين عندنا من الرأس ما أقبل منهما وما أدبر بلغنا عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه قال الأذنان من الرأس. الأصل (1/ 44) دار ابن حزم
