Not Being Able To Perform Qa’dah In Salaah

Question

If someone can do qawma, ruku, and sadjdah, but cannot do the qada; how should he make the salat? Is it permissible for him to make the Salat sitting on a chair?

Answer

For the person mentioned in the question, it is necessary that he stands and performs his Salah as normal. After Sajdah,  if he is unable to sit in Qa’dah in the Sunnah method, he can sit either cross-legged or even stretch his legs out in front of him. The remainder of the Salah should be read as normal.

If such a person finds it difficult to perform his Salah whilst sitting on the ground, then it will be permissible for him to perform his Salah whilst sitting on a chair.

The Ulama-e-Kiram have mentioned that those people who are invalid and unable to stand, should be encouraged to perform their Salaah sitting on the floor and not on chairs. Yes, those who are incapacitated in the true sense to the extent that, due to some handicap, they cannot even sit on the floor, they would be permitted to sit on a chair and perform their Salaah thereon.
