Question
I’d like to ask the ruling regarding the removal of hair for a woman during nifaas?
Answer
The removal of the hair (underarm and other such unwanted hair that Shariáh recommends removal of) for a woman during Nifaas is under normal circumstances, Makrooh. However, if a woman did not remove this hair before childbirth and the hair was kept for forty days or more, she will be allowed to remove it. This is due to the fact that in principle, Shariáh does not permit one to allow this type of unwanted hair to be left on the body for a period of 40 days or more and it is exceedingly abhorrent to leave it for such a long period of time.
