Trimming A Few Strands Of Hair After Umrah

Question

A person went for Umrah. After his first Umrah, he performed his second Umrah  a week later. To come out of Ihraam , he merely cut a few strands of hair from the back of his head.

He says that he was informed by an Aalim that he had to cut the hair of at least a quarter of the head. Is this correct? If so, what must he do now that he has returned home?

Answer

If one had no hair on his head, then merely passing a razor over his head would suffice. However, since you state “he merely cut a few strands of hair at the back of his head”, this statement shows that the hair on his head had slightly grown.

Thus, the ruling which the Aalim gave (that he had to cut at least quarter of the hair on the head) was correct. Therefore, one should sincerely turn to Allah Ta’aala in Tawbah and Istighfaar, and discharge some Saqadah.
